I am here

      It started drizzling. She stood there in a gorgeous saree. By her appearance, it appeared that it is a special day for her. Her eyes smeared with dark eyeliner, searching for someone. She was searching every passing car with excitement. As a car approaches her, she uses to become alert hoping that, the care might stop. Her eyes used to shine for a moment, and. that shine used to disappear as soon as the car passed.

      As time went by, it started raining. She found a place to protect herself from rain. Her big black eyes were like glue to the road. I could feel her restlessness. I wished to approach her and say, "I am here," but I was a stranger with crazy ideas. So I decided to stay there and watch her in the distance.

     Neither rain nor she was ready to give up. I decided to stay too. I was curious to know to whom she was waiting. I could sense her longing to see that specific face. So I stood there like an air. Invisible! She constantly started to check her phone. Now, I could see the disappointment in her eyes. She is on the verge of breaking down. Her tears are ready to flood out.

  That was my cue. My wait is over. I slowly started to walk towards her.

मैं यहां हूं

     बूंदाबांदी होने लगी. वह वहाँ एक खूबसूरत साड़ी में खड़ी थी। उनके लुक से लग रहा था कि ये उनके लिए खास दिन है. उसकी आंखें गहरे आईलाइनर से पुती हुई किसी को ढूंढ रही थीं। वह उत्साह से हर आती-जाती कार की तलाशी ले रही थी। जैसे ही कोई कार उसके पास आती है, वह सतर्क हो जाती है कि कहीं गाड़ी रुक न जाए। एक पल के लिए उसकी आंखें चमक उठती थीं, और. गाड़ी गुजरते ही वह चमक गायब हो जाती थी।

     जैसे-जैसे समय बीतता गया, बारिश होने लगी। उसे बारिश से बचने के लिए एक जगह मिल गई। उसकी बड़ी-बड़ी काली आँखें सड़क पर गोंद की तरह लग रही थीं। मैं उसकी बेचैनी महसूस कर सकता था. मैं उसके पास जाकर कहना चाहता था, "मैं यहाँ हूँ," लेकिन मैं पागल विचारों वाला एक अजनबी था। इसलिए मैंने वहीं रुकने और दूर से उसे देखने का फैसला किया।

     ना तो वर्षा हार मानने को तैयार थी और ना ही वो हार मानने को तैयार थी. मैंने भी रुकने का फैसला किया. मुझे यह जानने की उत्सुकता थी कि वह किसका इंतज़ार कर रही है। मैं उस विशिष्ट चेहरे को देखने की उसकी लालसा को समझ सकता था। तो मैं वहीं हवा बनकर खड़ा रहा. अदृश्य! वह लगातार अपना फोन चेक करने लगी. अब, मैं उसकी आँखों में निराशा देख सकता था। वह टूटने की कगार पर है. उसके आंसू छलकने को तैयार हैं.

    वह मेरा इशारा था. मेरा इंतज़ार ख़त्म हुआ. मैं धीरे-धीरे उसकी ओर बढ़ने लगा।
